How Zavala Electric started
Huber Zavala has worked as an electrician in the Maryland, DC and Virginia area for years, and for about 6 of them he has worked for himself. Most of that time his jobs came through people he knew and through another contractor who sent him work. When that source dried up, calls slowed down, and it became clear that the neighbors who needed an electrician had no easy way to find him.
Zavala Electric is the answer to that. It is Huber’s own company, under his own name, and this website is how homeowners in Silver Spring and nearby communities can reach him directly instead of going through someone else.
Huber is also the one who designed the logo, the royal blue and the lightning bolt through the surname, and he had work shirts embroidered with it. It is a small detail, but it says something about the company: he cares how the work looks when he leaves.
How we approach the work
Most of what Zavala Electric does is residential: homes, townhouses and apartments, the kind of electrical work that comes up when you live somewhere for a while. A dead outlet, a breaker that will not stay on, a bedroom with a single overhead bulb, a ceiling fan someone left in a box.
The company sticks to the kind of work it does well. Huber would rather tell you plainly that a job is outside what he takes on than say yes and leave you with a problem. When there is a simpler fix than the one you were expecting, you will hear about that too.
When a job needs more than one person, Huber brings in help and stays on it himself. And because he is a one-owner company, you are not handed off to a call center when you call back with a question.
